Murder charge laid

A fourth man has been charged in relation to the death of 19-year-old Wiremu Birch in Taupo on Friday.

The 30-year-old man from Taupo was arrested in Taupo earlier today. He has been charged with murder and will appear at Rotorua District Court tomorrow morning.

The scene examination has been completed and a post mortem has been carried out.

Police still want to hear from anyone in the area of Rifle Range Road, Hinekura Avenue or Hinemoa Avenue, Taupo who saw or heard anything suspicious between 2.30am and 3.30am.

As the matter is now before the court police will be making no further comment.
