Kaitaia man in court on sexual offending charges

A 65-year-old man has appeared in the Kaitaia District Court today on several sexual offence charges involving young children.
On October 15 James Brian Sanders appeared in court facing six charges of indecent assault on a female aged under 12 years and one charge of sexual violation of a female aged under 12 years.
Today Sanders faced further charges including 12 charges of indecent assault on a female aged under 12 years, another charge of sexual violation of a female aged under 12 years, three charges of indecent assault on a female aged between 12 and 16 years and one charge of assault on a child aged under 14 years.

The total of 24 charges involves seven victims.
Sanders has been remanded in custody to re-appear
in the Kaitaia District Court on November 19.
The name of the school and the programme that Sanders has been involved with are suppressed.
