Volunteering New Zealand thanks Managers of Volunteers across Aotearoa
Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) is encouraging organisations to celebrate International Volunteer Managers Day (IVM) to be held next week on Tuesday 5 November.
Vanisa Dhiru, Chief Executive of VNZ says, “Leaders and managers of volunteers are motivating and creative – they have such an impact on the organisations they work for, and should be valued for their varied leadership skills.
“The global theme for IVM is ‘Connecting and Inspiring’, which has given us direction from friends across the world to recognise and celebrate the great work of leaders and managers of volunteers in our community and voluntary sector”.
Managers of volunteers manage hundreds of volunteers, who make up over 34% of the population in New Zealand.
“We encourage everyone to recognise and give thanks to managers of volunteers across the country on Tuesday. VNZ will be releasing a video to express our gratitude for the work done by managers of volunteers”.
On 5 November, VNZ will be hosting a live chat on Facebook to provide an opportunity for people to ask volunteering experts questions they may not normally ask around volunteer management. The online panel are also interested in hearing comments and topics that people in the sector think need to be looked at in regards to volunteering.
