For Immediate Release

Seaside Arts Festival - Making Sound Waves

Tomorrow, Thames will come alive with music during its annual arts festival which runs until Sunday December  8th.

Big, bold and brassy – the Thames Citizen’s band opens the festival at historic St Georges. The church will also ring out to the sounds of the St George’s own Choral Group, celebrating Christmas and families will sing carols at St Francis School.

Move it and shake it! Dance to live musicians playing the tango, samba, salsa, bossanova, capoeira, and raggation. Or sing along to the Rocky Horror with MAD performers awaiting your attendance with ANTICI.......PATION!

And for something completely different, there’s the fresh sound of Guitara Guitara  or The Land GirlsLive with PK Aotea up the Kauaeranga.

Songwriters of the world Unite – for musicians and writers, who want to get inspired, connect and evolve.  Invited speakers and an open mic session should do the biz at Rick’s Wine and Brew.

Watch out for LA Thompson, Jamie McCaskill, Simon Donald, Dylan Wade, Eden Tuisaula, The BeatGirl's, Kali Kopae and many more talented musicians.

And while you are at it, take in Coromandel Watchdog’s exhibition of renowned local artists who support No Mining or the art work of Te Puru Creative KIDZ; the black and white design work of Shirley Howe or the artwork created by the Thames Enthusiastic Amateurs.

Look in the shops for art as you walk on by. This is The Main Artery - a mile long art exhibition in the main street of town. And The Grand Promenade Exhibition of Coromandel and Waikato artists, hosted by the art society at Tararu, is one to be savoured.

Enjoy yourself watching young people dance their hearts out at a dance recital. Come and wander the seawalkway where there is art underfoot and discover Michael Smither’s  Harmonic Spectrum .

This is an arts festival is for everyone. Invite your whanau and friends to come and enjoy the festival. For Thames Arts Festival programme, check out www.thamessocietyofarts.org.nz.
