MEDIA RELEASE

Digital learning expert Deborah Howes comes to New Zealand

This November, museum and gallery educators should prepare to be inspired by Deborah Howes, Director of Digital Learning at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

In partnership with Te Papa’s National Services Te Paerangi, and with support from the Museum Education Association of Aotearoa New Zealand (MEANZ), Deborah will host a series of workshops for museum staff. Her focus will be on creating innovative education programmes in the digital age. At workshops in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, Deborah will discuss how learning and teaching is changing in the 21st century – and how these changes can enhance education programmes through new technologies and innovative ways of thinking.

According to Karen Walters, President of MEANZ, “MEANZ is delighted to support this opportunity for museum educators to benefit from Deborah’s expertise. Sharing knowledge is so important, and museum staff all over New Zealand will be able to participate and develop new ideas through attending these seminars.”

Wellington – Te Papa, Thursday 28 November, 10.30am
Auckland – Voyager NZ Maritime Museum, Friday 29 November, 10.30am
