Worker killed in logging accident

A 28 year old man died today after being pinned between two trees in a logging accident.

The accident happened at a private forestry site off Foxhill Cemetery Road south of Nelson about midday.

Initial inquiries have revealed that man had been working alone on a hauler. A colleague discovered him pinned between two logs. CPR was performed but he died at the scene.

Victim Support is assisting the other workers who were present.

An accident investigation is under way.
