Fatal Crash between car and horse

At 9.45pm this evening a vehicle travelling between Prebbleton and Lincoln
on Birchs Road struck a horse in the middle of their lane.

The 56yr old female driver of the vehicle died at the scene. The scene was
at the corner of Birchs Rd and Leadleys Rd.

Police have not yet established where the horse came from but are requesting
the horse owner to contact the Rolleston Police if they discover their horse
missing. The horse is described as a brown gelding with a white star on it's
forehead and approx 15-16 hands high.

The horse was also dead at the scene.
