Stokes Valley, Wellington: Sexual Assault

Wellington, 27 December 2013 - The Wellington Crime Squad is appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault.

Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in an alleyway adjacent to Delaney Park, Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt.

At approximately 7pm last night (26 December 2013 - Boxing Day) a woman was walking through Delaney Park. She noticed a male in the park near the cricket club.

The male followed her from Delaney Park through the alleyway to Chittick Street. There she was sexually assaulted by the male.

The male is believed to have run back towards Delaney Park.

As a result of the incident the woman was distressed and shaken.

The male is described as being approximately 175cm tall, a muscular build and aged in his late teens or early 20s.

Detective Sergeant Mike Priston says, "We are appealing for anyone who has information in respect to the sexual assault to contact the Wellington Crime Squad.

If anyone has any information in regard the incident I would encourage them to come forward."
