Drowning & Water Rescue North of Maunganui Bluff
Drowning & Water Rescue, West Coast, North of
Shortly before 2:00pm yesterday
emergency services responded to a water rescue, on the
west-coast, north of the Maunganui Bluff.
Three males got
into difficulty whilst land-based fishing.
As a result
two males were located/recovered. One was in a critical
condition and was flown to hospital by the Northland
Emmergency Services Trust rescue helicopter.
male died at the scene.
The Police Search and Rescue
team responded to the scene to locate the third missing
The search is continuing today to locate
the missing man.

8/3: International Women’s Day Celebrated Around New Zealand
As women celebrate March 8th, International Women’s Day, in 23 events around New Zealand, it’s timely to reflect on the fact less than a third of our Members of Parliament are women, and that occupations that women dominate, such as caregivers, are amongst the lowest paid in New Zealand, Sue Kedgley, President of UN Women NZ said today.
“We hope that women’s issues will become prominent during election year and that all political parties will commit to policies that promote gender equity in New Zealand,” Ms Kedgley said.
