Man arrested & charged over sexually-motivated assault

"Man arrested & charged over sexually-motivated assault on 6 year-old girl"

Police have arrested and charged a West Auckland man in relation to a sexually-motivated assault on a young girl in Glendene Reserve, last Wednesday night.


The 20 year-old has been charged with the following;


-Kidnapping

-Assault with intent to commit sexual violation.

The accused will appear in the Waitakere District Court tomorrow (Monday 6 January).

"We'd like to thank the public and the media for their assistance. Because the incident is now before the courts we're limited as to what we can say, but I can tell you that the family of the victim were very relieved to hear this news and we're grateful for the help we received from both the public and the media" says Detective Sergeant Peter Litherland, Waitakere Police.


As the matter is now before the courts no further comment will be made.
