The first Creative Communities Upper Hutt funding round for 2014 is now open.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 4 MAR 2014—The Creative Communities grants are funds that are facilitated through the Upper Hutt City Council on behalf of Creative NZ. The fund aims to inspire communities to create great arts projects of all descriptions and sizes. It is available for any project that provides any of the following.
1. Broad community involvement: creating opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities;
2. Diversity: supporting the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity or;
3. Young people: enabling and encouraging young people under 18 years to engage with and actively participate in the arts.
The type of projects that have been accepted for funding previously include activities like craft sessions, dance recitals, music classes, art therapy, and cultural performances. Items that cannot be funded include activities such as administration costs, travel for shows or events, development of facilities such as galleries or the cost of capital items such as computers.
Although some publications have said that the applications close on 14 March 2014, the actual closing date is Wednesday 30 April 2014, at 4.00 pm to ensure that people have enough time to put together quality applications.
