Wellington Region Emergency Management monitoring Cyclone

Wellington Region Emergency Management Office monitoring Cyclone LUSI

The Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO) continues to monitor developments with respect to Cyclone LUSI this weekend.

Group Controller Bruce Pepperell says that while residents should remain vigilant as cyclones can alter course, Cyclone LUSI is not expected to have as significant an impact on the Wellington region as predicted for other parts of the country.

The Metservice predicts wind gusts to remain below 110km/h over the weekend, with northeasterly winds changing to northwesterlies on Sunday afternoon. No warning has been issued for the Wellington region however, residents are advised to listen to local radio stations for weather updates.
Mr Pepperell says the cyclone should serve as a reminder to be well prepared both at home and at work.
