Dam consenting role affirmed
Waikato Regional
Council’s important role as a consenting authority for
large dams in the North Island has been reaffirmed by
accreditation body IANZ.
It follows a scheduled, two-yearly audit of the council’s role as a building consent authority for the processing of building consents for large dams in Waikato and on behalf of other North Island regional councils and Auckland Council.
“The finding of the audit was that our building consent authority work for large dams was found to be producing technically appropriate outcomes,” said infrastructure programme manager Hugh Keane.
“It’s a credit to the expertise of our staff that we
carry out this work not only in the Waikato but on behalf of
other North Island regional authorities, with costs met by
consent applicants.”
