*"Fatal Crash - Rakaia - National Alerts"*

At 4pm on Saturday 31st May 2014 a fatal motor vehicle crash occurred on Thompsons Track at the intersection of Somerton Road, Rakaia.

Two vehicles collided at this intersection which is controlled by a stop sign.

Three people have died as a result of the crash.

• One vehicle had four occupants of which three have died. The fourth passenger has been transported to hospital by means of a rescue helicopter

• The other vehicle had one occupant who has minor injuries and is being treated at hospital
