Waikato District Council Speed Limit Bylaw review

Waikato District Council Speed Limit Bylaw review to reconvene

A hearing into Council’s annual Speed Limit Bylaw review will reconvene this month after the initial hearing was adjourned.

Council received 23 submissions relating to 16 proposed speed limit amendments across the district however, the hearing was adjourned while further information regarding the submissions process was considered.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says independent legal advice was obtained to determine if Council had fulfilled its obligations during the consultation review process of the Speed Limit Bylaw.

“According to that advice, Council has satisfied the consultation requirements under the Land Transport Rule and the Local Government Act 2002 so we can now continue with the bylaw review.”

The hearing will reconvene at 9am on Monday 23 June 2014 in the Council Chambers, Ngaruawahia.
