North Canterbury Flooding

1.Police advise that there is flooding throughout the North Canterbury area, especially on Tram Road and State Highway 1 near the Ashley river. There are several low areas of the road where the water has pooled.

Motorists are duely warned to slow down and take care. The local authorities and Transit have road crews out erecting signage and trying to aleviate the problem.

Could the radio media please give broadcasts about this.

2. Rangiora Police are assisting at the Bainlea House resthome in Rangiora in evacuating residents due to flooding through the home. The residents are being transported to the local church hall while the situation is assessed. There is no danger to the residents who are treating this as a special outing in the middle of a bleak and wet winter.
