11 Year old driver flees Police

At about midnight a police patrol in Papakura attempted to stop a car that was driving erratically after a member of the public had reported seeing the Mitsubishi Galant with what appeared to be a child at the wheel.

The driver failed to stop and fled police at speeds between 100 and 120 km/h for about two minutes before stopping the car and the running off on foot.

A passenger from the car was captured by police and confirmed that the driver was an 11 year old boy who had escaped from CYPFS custody.

Police are making enquiries to find the boy and establish the ownership of the car.
