Roading update - Central North Island

Roading update - Central North Island

Thursday, 3 July 2014 - 10:03am

Update to road closures - SH47 (National Park) and SH1 (Desert Road):

There is no opening time scheduled for these two roads at this time.

Ice continues to pose a serious risk along SH4 Ohakune/Taumaranui and beyond. Motorists intending to travel along this road are advised to exercise extreme caution, drop travelling speeds considerably and remain aware of other traffic in the area.

Best advice is to avoid this stretch of road unless absolutely necessary.
