LTP workshops underway

LTP workshops underway

Auckland councillors today met for the fourth in a series of workshops to consider council priorities for the next 10 years. The workshops are part of the 18 month process of developing Auckland’s Long-term Plan (LTP).

Today’s workshop covered Auckland development and included presentations from Waterfront Auckland, Auckland Council Property Limited (ACPL) and council’s planning department. Watercare also presented on water supply and waste water.

Held throughout July and August, the workshops will provide elected members with a detailed look into each of council’s work programmes and inform debate and discussion on prioritisation and funding.

The workshops will also help to inform the Mayor’s proposal for the draft 10-year budget, which will be published in late August. Following this, the full council will debate then adopt a draft LTP to go out for extensive public consultation in January 2015, so Aucklanders can have their say.

This 10-year budget is Auckland’s first opportunity to develop a programme of work based on the priorities of the Auckland Plan, which was developed and adopted in the first term of council.

The LTP sets out the priorities and funding for council activities and investments over a 10 year period. It includes financial and non-financial statements, as well as the Local Board agreements.

The LTP is reviewed every three years. The next 11 months will see an extensive process involving the council, its CCOs and the people of Auckland.

The 10-year budget for 2015-2025 is due for adoption June 2015.
