KOAST Art Trail is Growing

KOAST Media Release

Monday, September 15th, 2014

The first Kerikeri Open Art Studios Trail (KOAST) is creating so much interest that the event has now been extended to include a third day over Labour Weekend.

Ann Winship, chairperson of KOAST, says, “Three weeks ago the society voted to stay open all three days, October 25, 26 and 27 from 10am to 5pm because there are over 30 stops on our trail! This will give people time to leisurely visit as many studios as they want and the artists are really keen to share their work. The trail will be like a gallery with 30 rooms connected by gardens and country roads.”

More than 50 artists on the KOAST trail will open their studios for the public to view and purchase original art. Visitors can meet and talk to the artists where they live and work. Ann added, “We also have three group venues open in Kerikeri and Waipapa showing artwork of some of our members. An exciting feature of the trail will be four guest artists at the group venues whose work is known internationally. The society is also honouring graduating Kerikeri NorthTec student, Gery Hore, for her etching work which will be on view at one of the group venues.”

The KOAST trail guide with map will be available to download from KOAST’s website from October 1st for $5. The printed version will be in Kerikeri shops soon after that.

“Be sure to preview the artists’ web pages at www.koast.org.nz to help you plan your art filled weekend,” suggests Ann.

For more details about all of our artists, including guests and the student of honour, see http://www.koast.org.nz/ or email info.koast@gmail.com or call Ann 09 401 6423
