Napier bomb scare over

Police have been stood down and workers allowed back into the Napier Public Library after a bomb scare this morning.

Library staff alerted police this morning after a woman left a suitcase in the library unattended. Police treated the suitcase as a suspicious package and evacuated the building. The Defence Force bomb squad was also called in.

The woman returned to the library just before 1pm today to collect the suitcase. She was from out of town and had left it there while she attended to other matters in town.

The woman is currently being spoken to by police.
