Swimming Pools, Spas and Fencing

If you are putting in a pool this summer you will need to know all pools capable of holding a depth of 400mm of water need fencing including spa pools, portable pools and swimming pools.

All fencing must comply with the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act. All gates and doors must open away from the pool and must be self-closing and latching. Only pools 1.2m high without climbable ladders are considered exempt. Spa pools with self-locking lids require a special exemption from Council.

Some retailers believe spa pools with self-locking lids to be exempt, but this is incorrect.
