New traffic management – city and suburbs

Linwood/ Charleston - Ensors/ Aldwins Road delays

Expect delays due to a reduction to just one lane travelling north from the Ensors Road/ Ferry Road intersection onto Aldwins Road past Linwood College. Work will move in segments to Harrow St, the traffic lights past Linwood College, between now and the end of the year. The road itself, kerb, channel and footpath will be repaired. Addington / Middleton / Tower Junction – a year of work has started Whiteleigh Ave

Read our work notice for this major block of wastewater and storm water work just starting on some busy roads to the south and west of Hagley Park. This first segment of work south of Show Place should take about two weeks, during the day. Work in the intersections - Blenheim/ Whiteleigh, Whiteleigh/Lincoln and across to Wrights/ Lincoln Roads – will be restricted to weekends. One lane only southbound from Keswick St to Palamino Place for up to two weeks.

Mt Pleasant/ St Andrews Hill intersection closures with Main Road, 16 - 29 October

Residents of Te Awakura Tce, The Brae, Rangatira Tce, Quarry Road, Seamount Tce and 4-39 Mt Pleasant Road will need to use St Andrews Hill Road to get to and from home.

Worcester St

Worcester St will be closed for a week between Cathedral Square and Manchester St.

Ferry Road – Fitzgerald Ave end

Expect changes to the traffic management at this intersection possibly from mid-week – 15 or 16 October – one-way access only.

ONGOING WORK – Central City

Salisbury St

Lane reductions for four weeks for small sections of wastewater work and road patching east of Victoria St past the Colombo St intersection. Be ready for lanes switching over the next few weeks.

Madras St, Moa Place to Salisbury

Manchester St

Manchester’s one way southbound only stretch will be extended south to Hereford St.

Moorhouse Ave, between Colombo and Antigua Streets

The left/ westbound lane is down on Moorhouse Ave between Colombo and Antigua.

Walker St - closed at the Durham St end.

Montreal St - one lane past the Downer work site between Walker and Wilmer Streets (south of St Asaph, north of Moorhouse), repairing storm water pipes for another week.

Bealey Ave – lane drop for west bound traffic

SCIRT’s Fletcher team is renewing the fresh water pipes on Bealey Ave from Churchill to Barbadoes and from Madras to Manchester this month. Drivers travelling west from Fitzgerald Ave may have delays with one lane and the road shoulder out of use. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5671

ONGOING WORK – suburbs

Wainoni/ Aranui - Wainoni road – several areas of work

• Areas of the road, kerb and channel and footpath on Wainoni Road between Breezes Road and 175 Wainoni Road are being repaired. Two-way traffic remains around the work-site.

• Between Ottawa Road and Cuffs Road, areas of road, kerb and channel and footpath are being repaired. Two-way traffic continues.

Wainoni Road, between Bickerton St and Ottawa Road, has been chip sealed. The stones will remain on the road until it has hardened. Later it will be asphalted.

Aranui – one-way traffic systems, several streets

• Carters Road, one-way towards Breezes Road.

• Woodlands Place, one-way towards Breezes Road.

• Guernsey St, one-way southbound from Rowses Road towards St Heliers Crescent.

• St Heliers Crescent, one-way system.

• Cuthberts Road, between Breezes Road and Nugent St, one-way system westbound from Breezes Road.

Aranui/ Wainoni – closure at intersection Pages and Breezes Roads

Breezes Road is closed north of Pages Road intersection for the new wastewater vacuum main to be installed. This work is taking place 24 hours a day until late October. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Pages Road. http://strongerchristchurch.govt.nz/work/activity/5626

Riccarton/ Ilam – Kahu Road traffic closure/side street access to Riccarton House

Kahu Road, between Kotare St near the university/ Medbury Boys School corner and Kilmarnock St/Hagley Park, is closed while for the brick arched bridge outside Christchurch Boys’ High is repaired – to mid Novemberat this stage. People can still drive into the grounds of Riccarton House via Titoki St to get to the Riccarton Bistro and the weekend markets. Ferrymead - Humphreys Drive/ Linwood Ave – night work, detour, good progress

Wainoni - Kerrs Rd

Kerrs Road between Wildwood Ave and the Pannell Ave/ Wainoni Rd intersection, is one-way heading north. Southbound motorists are detoured via Pannell Ave. This section of road has just been sealed and small stones remain on the road. Please drive to the conditions.

Bromley update – Wickham, Francella, Dyers

• Eastbound lane closure for lift station installation outside 61 Wickham St, Bromley, starting Monday 13 October, for about two months.

• Open trenching on Francella St means there is a road closure between 39 Francella and Dyers Road. Work starts Monday for a month.

Bromley, Maces Road - two sections of wastewater work

• Gravity open trenching work for the gravity wastewater pipe has been on-going for a month now with a northbound lane closure between Bromley Road and Wickham St. Expected to be finished and reinstated by Thursday.

• The lift station installation outside 200 Maces Road has begunthis week with traffic lights in place to direct vehicles around the work site. This will take about two months to complete.
