Albany Highway North upgrade open days

Albany Highway North upgrade open days

People interested in finding out more about Auckland Transport’s major upgrade of Albany Highway North are invited to attend one of two upcoming open days on the project.

The open days will be held at Kristin School at 360 Albany Highway on:

§ Wednesday 29 October, 4pm to 7pm (Library and Information Centre Foyer)

§ Saturday 1 November, 10am to 12pm (Auditorium Foyer)

Auckland Transport’s Roading Group Manager, Andrew Scoggins, says the open days are a great opportunity for people to meet with the project team, view plans and discuss the upcoming activities planned during construction.

“We’ll have members of the project team at each open day who can discuss a range of subjects from engineering and urban design to construction impacts and health and safety,” he says.

“AT’s travel planning team will also be present to help people identify travel solutions that might suit their needs while the upgrade is underway and in the future.”

The upgrade of the 3.8km stretch of Albany Highway between the Upper Harbour Motorway and Dairy Flat Highway, is Auckland Transport’s biggest roading project on the North Shore since the Northern Busway. It will see the highway more than double in capacity with a new transit lane in each direction, on and off-road cycle route and wider footpaths, a new bridge over the Oteha Stream and replacement of three major roundabouts with signalised intersections. The project will help reduce congestion around the Albany area, improve safety for all road users and encourage the use of a range of transport modes.

Construction will start early November and is expected to take two and a half years to complete. The project will be delivered by Fulton Hogan.
