Exciting new Hastings Growers Market to start 29th November

Exciting new Hastings Growers Market gets all clear to start 29th November

Hastings District Council have today approved a road closure that will see the launch of a new Hastings City Growers Market every Saturday morning from 7am until 10.30am to be held in the streets of the 100 and 200 blocks of Heretaunga St East.

Following on from the great success of the Night Market, that brings the community together in Hastings CBD each Thursday night, this exciting new market has been launched by Hastings City Business Association to enable locals to access the wonderful abundance of fresh produce grown in our region by other locals. Susan McDade, Manager of HCBA, also anticipates a boost in Saturday sales for the surrounding retailers as an added bonus.

Modelled on the successful Whangarei Growers Market the Hastings version will appeal to families looking for fresh healthy food options that won’t break the bank. The market hopes to bring large numbers into the CBD as part of a regular routine to shop, socialise and be entertained. Unlike other Markets, all vendors who grow or produce food in Hawkes Bay are welcome so competition will be high and prices reasonable becoming an integral component to the weekly grocery shop.

Stallholders will range from small growers with one seasonal product to large trucks with a variety of fruit and vegetables. All food products are welcome including preserves, olive oil, sauces or just about any local artisan produced goods. As vendors will be selling their local, fresh produce, this also makes for an environmentally sound choice for shoppers.

With entertainment from local buskers, whilst enjoying excellent coffee and chatting with growers - this promises to be an authentic community event for all.

The Hastings City Business Association is currently seeking expressions of interest from Vendors. If you are interested in becoming a vendor at this exciting new market please check out our website www.hastingscitymarkets.co.nz

Whatever messages of tolerance and inclusion are offered in daylight, much of our culture tends to be hostile to Islam when we’re sitting in the dark, with popcorn.
Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
