Firearm brandished from car found to be a toy

Armed police supported by the Police helicopter raided a house in Trimmer Terrace Papatoetoe at about 7:45pm tonight after reports from a member of the public that a man had been seen waving a hand gun from a vehicle. The vehicle was traced to and located at the Papatoetoe address and armed police officers recovered a toy gun from the house. The occupants of the address are being spoken to by police who will then decide what if any charges are to be laid.

Police warn that displaying firearms, whether real or replica in public is a very dangerous practice as all cases of this sort will be treated as if the threat from the weapons are genuine until the contrary is established.
