Methamphetamine & Stolen Property Found at Kawakawa Address

Methamphetamine And Stolen Property Found at Kawakawa Address

Far North Police located more than $6000 worth of methamphetamine and hundreds of dollars worth of stolen property during a search warrant at a Kawakawa address yesterday.

About 3.30pm Police entered the property and found 6.4 grams of methamphetamine worth $6400, $5540 cash, utensils used for methamphetamine, a stolen drill taken in a burglary the day before, a $1400 coffee machine that had been stolen from a store in Kerikeri and a number of other stolen items.

A 26-year-old Kawakawa man has been charged with burglary, supplying/selling methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine for supply.

He will be appearing in the Kaikohe District Court today.

Far North Area Commander Inspector Wendy Robilliard says yesterday search saw the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) staff from Kerikeri and Kaikohe together with Kawakawa staff again actively targeting drug dealers and thieves.

“Our staff regularly carries out thorough investigations to flush these people out, so we will be catching up with anyone who continues to deal in drugs and steal other people’s property.”

Ms Robilliard says catching this offender and finding the drugs means less people in the community will be harmed by his criminal activities.

“We won’t tolerate this activity, and neither will our communities. We have had considerable success in tackling our volume crime offenders in recent months with large amounts of drugs and stolen property being recovered. So my advice to offenders is to desist or be caught.”

Ms Robilliard says if anyone has information about illicit drugs or stolen property they can contact their local police or if they want to remain anonymous they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.
