Charges Laid in Alleged Meridian Scam

Christchurch Police have arrested two people this week in relation to an alleged Meridian scam that has targeted elderly residents in Christchurch.

A 25 year old woman and 19 year old man will appear in Christchurch District Court next week each facing two fraud related charges including Obtain By Deception.

This is a timely reminder to everyone to think twice before giving out any personal information or bank/card details out to anybody.

Police ask anyone who has been approached in a similar manner or notices any suspicious or fraudulent activity to report it straight it away to Christchurch Police on 03 364 7400.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
