Graduates in industry honoured
Mayor Meng Foon is excited to welcome this year’s successful graduates to the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs industry training graduation this Thursday 30 October.
“The hard work and commitment of industry trainees and their employers deserves a night to celebrate these achievements.” Says Mayor Meng Foon.
160 trainees will have completed qualifications within their industry and whilst in employment with local businesses in 2014.
“All types of industry are represented amongst the graduates from hairdressing to logging, “says Mayor Meng Foon.
“It’s inspiring to see people completing training while working in their chosen field and seeing employers invest in the careers of their people. It makes sense and benefits everyone.”
The Mayors Taskforce For Jobs is a nationwide network of New Zealand’s Mayors, working together towards the vision of people being engaged in appropriate education, training, work or other positive activity in their communities.
The initiative is supported by the Ministry for business, innovation & employment and sponsored by CareerForce and Primary ITO.
The event will be held on Thursday 530pm at Lawsonfield theatre, a ceremony at 6pm will be followed by light refreshments and photo opportunities.
“I’m looking forward to congratulating trainees who are receiving recognition of their training and celebrating with their families and employers.” Says Mayor Meng Foon.
People who have completed qualifications with an industry training organisation this year are reminded to register and RSVP to the event by contacting Julie Conder, phone 867 2049.
