Hot Rods on the Beach

For Immediate Release:

Hot Rods on the Beach

With over 450 Hot rods, American Classics, Vintage Cars and Fire Engines expected to assemble for the first ever “New Brighton Rockabilly Show and Shine” on the New Brighton Beach Car Park Ramps it will be the first time since the 1970’s that such an array of cars will be parked up, soaking in the Vintage Markets, Live Rockabilly Music, food stalls, lavish cars and a Rockabilly Ball featuring “Cry Baby Joy”– and that’s just scratching the surface

Co-organiser Carl Taylor says “This event will be the biggest Car Show ever to be put on in Christchurch City in recent times in support of S.U.R.F - Strategic Urban Rejuvenation Force. Putting New Brighton back on the map”.

“We put this event together in under 3 months under the smell of an oily rag” Taylor says. The entire event has been funded by locals and local business that want to put New Brighton back on the map, “Our goal is to create an event like no other, this will be the best beach Rockabilly Hot Rod and Vintage event you will ever see. And best of all, right in the heart of New Brighton” Taylor says.

He said that support for such an event was evident once it was launched on Facebook with over 800 likes in under 24 hours.

The event will feature some of the most outstanding cars you will ever see and all funds raised go back into the community.

“Not only will you get to see some radical vehicles you will also be able to support the local vintage markets which will be a first for New Brighton” Taylor said, He believes that this event is a New Zealand first “People love to look at the cars and shop at the markets all in one place, some people even go as far as dressing up to the era which is great to see so many people getting into it”
