Oxford to City bus service Trial Success – Regular service announced

The commuter bus service from Oxford to Christchurch, operated by Red Bus, started as a trial on 13 October has proven an early success with strong community support is now confirmed as a long term regular service.

The Oxford service departs from outside the Oxford Service Centre at 7.00am, with stops at Cust (outside Service Centre), Swannanoa (Swannanoa Hall), Mandeville (Tram /Bradleys Road) and Northlands Mall arriving at Central Station at 8.20am.

There is no service on public holidays or over the Christmas and New Year period. The last day of service being 24 December 2014 and will begin again on Monday, 5 January 2015.

The return service departs from outside the Central Station on Tuam Street at 5.30pm. Alternative stops between these points can be made, and passengers are encouraged to wave down the driver as the bus approaches.

The bus is fitted with a bike rack able to carry one or two bikes.

Paul McNoe, Red Bus Chief Executive said ‘we have had such great support from the local community for the trial service in the first two weeks that we are delighted to confirm that this Oxford to City commuter route is now a regular Red Bus service. Thanks to all the passengers and community for your support and encouragement.’
