Recreational Water Quality Monitoring Starts Monday

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council’s recreational water quality monitoring programme kicks off on Monday 3 November.

This programme monitors popular bathing sites at the region’s beaches, rivers and estuaries for indicators of harmful pathogens associated with human health issues.

Water quality at the region’s bathing sites is generally good except after periods of heavy rain.

HBRC advises against swimming or collecting shellfish within 3 days of heavy rain or if you cannot see your toes when standing in the water.

There is information online on water quality at your favourite beach or swimming hole – go to www.hbrc.govt.nz search: B4Uswim.
