Man found dead on road

Police are investigating the death of a man on Hunua Road Hunua at about 4am this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a motorist went to a nearby house to call police after nearly running over the mans body which was lying on the road.

The man was dead when Ambulance arrived at the scene. The police have closed the road and officers have commenced an investigation.

At this stage there are no details available about the identity of the man and no indication of how he died.

Hunua Road is blocked between Ponga Road and Heald Road and will remain closed for some time.
