New mural for Clive pool

New mural for Clive pool

The exterior of Clive Memorial Pool is to have a new, more attractive look.

Hastings based graphic artist Mauricio Benega has begun painting a mural on the roadside wall of the building. The mural will not only enhance the appearance of the building but will also make the facility more visible to the community.

Hastings District Councillor Rod Heaps says “Since the refurbishment of the facility earlier this year, there has been discussion on how the wall could be used to make the community more aware of the pool and enhance the appearance of the building. I am delighted at the design that has been developed for the mural as it will lift the appearance of the whole building.”

Painting of the mural began yesterday morning (Monday November 3rd) and it is estimated that it will take 4-6 days to complete (weather permitting).

Clive pool users will also benefit from the new Aquafit programme that comes into operation across three of the districts pools from this month.

The programme will run at the Clive pool, Waterworld in Flaxmere and the Havelock North Village pool.

Classes have been scheduled at times that make them most accessible to the individual target markets. The Aquafit programme includes:

AquaPump and Bootcamp – high intensity workouts
SwimFit – Group swimming drills - a great fitness alternative.
Aquarobics – open to all ability levels. A low to medium intensity, low impact workout
Masters – lap swimming drills aimed at people who want to stay fit and train in a group environment. All abilities. Mainly 40+ age group.
Triathlon – advanced, open water and triathlon swimmer
