Lock up your easily-spooked pets and livestock, zip up your fireproof overalls, clear away any flammable material and fill the bath with water.
Yes it’s Wellington City Council’s monthly meeting tonight - Guy Fawkes Night – and at the obvious risk of labouring a clichéd question, will there be fireworks?
Watch livestreaming of the meeting tonight from the comfort of your couch from 5.30pm.
The major item on tonight’s meeting agenda is the proposed Wellington Convention Centre – the Mayor and Councillors will debate and vote on a financial deal that, if approved, would be another step towards the construction of the convention centre and adjoining hotel in Cable Street, opposite Te Papa.

At the beginning of the meeting, APW Awards will be
presented to Māori community stalwart Bill Rawiri and
renowned sportsperson Trevor Rigby. APW awards are a way for
the Council to honour members of the community who have made
outstanding or lengthy contributions to the Capital and its
people.
