Mystery surrounds evening of “immersive culinary exploration”

Anticipation is building over an intriguingly secretive gastronomic event that has been wholly devised, designed and produced by final year Bachelor of Culinary arts students from Otago Polytechnic’s Food Design Institute.

Described as an evening of immersive culinary exploration, fEATure takes place at 7.00pm on Thursday 20 November at 49 Harbour Terrace, as part of the Polytechnic’s annual end-of-year student showcase, Excite. Tickets to fEATure are available from www.eventfinder.co.nz for $35.00 (incl. booking fee), however availability is strictly limited.

While the evening’s menu is a closely-guarded secret, it’s certain patrons’ palates will not be disappointed. Over recent years, Bachelor of Culinary Arts students have cultivated a reputation of excellence through regular and impressive public events featuring ground-breaking cuisine that engages all the senses.

“It’s important the fEATure dishes are not revealed ahead of time,” explains Associate Professor Richard Mitchell of the Food Design Institute. “The less we say now, the more enjoyable the evening will be for our guests. We want them to experience shock and awe, surprise and delight, as these innovative and delicious dishes are unveiled on the night.”

Amanda Ede, one of 21 students coordinating fEATure, says the event is a celebration of all her class has achieved. “fEATure recalls and remixes some of the standout creations from our group over the past three years, as well as some brand new dishes devised especially for this night,” she says.
