NZ Cup and Show Week fun continues

NZ Cup and Show Week fun continues

New Zealand Cup and Show Week is in full swing and the festival fun continues today with the Canterbury A&P Show, greyhound racing and professional bull riding later tonight.

Christchurch City Council Events Development Manager Richard Attwood says plenty of people are taking time out this week to celebrate New Zealand’s biggest spring festival.

“Between the racing, fashion, A&P Show and new events such as Professional Bull Riders, there really is something for everyone to see and do,” he says.

“There’s also still plenty of time to enjoy the events on offer and make the most of the festival over the long weekend.”

The Canterbury A&P Show promises lots more family fun, with fine weather forecast for Canterbury Anniversary Day tomorrow.

This year’s Show features around 3,000 animals on site, 600 trade exhibitors, feature marquees and pavilions, as well as top entertainment and attractions.

Public parking during the Canterbury A&P Show is free. A free shuttle bus runs from the public carpark to the Lake Turnstiles.

This evening the fastest canines in the country will be racing in the $100,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Greyhound Cup at Addington Raceway.

The first race starts at 5.15pm and admission, including car park and race book, is free. Punters will also get a chance to win up to $10,000 in the Lucky Losing Ticket draw.

Then tonight from 7pm, Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will make its New Zealand debut at Horncastle Arena with the New Zealand PBR Cup, complete with pyrotechnics, big-screen replays and dramatic lighting displays.
