New Committee Structure Reflects Work Streams
New Committee Structure Reflects Work Streams
A new
committee structure that councillors have been working on
for some months was adopted at yesterday’s council
meeting.
The structure is part of the council’s strategic focus on the increasingly complex and integrated work programmes and is designed to improve both organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
Environment Southland Chairman Ali Timms said the new committee structure would no longer be organised according to divisions because work streams now go across divisions.
“It better reflects our governance of the organisation,” she said.
The new committees are:
· Strategy and Policy, Chairman: Councillor Nicol Horrell
· Organisational Performance and Audit, Chairman: Councillor Jan Riddell
· Regulatory, Chairman: Councillor Neville Cook
· Regional Services, Chairman: Councillor Ross Cockburn
They replace the consents, corporate management & audit,
environmental management committees and the former regional
services committee.
The Regional Transport committee and the Southland Civil Defence Emergency Management Committees remain unchanged.
The new committee structure takes effect from 2015.
