A smart new look for Frimley Aquatic Centre

A smart new look for Frimley Aquatic Centre

The Frimley Aquatic Centre will sport a trendy and smart new look when it opens for the summer season on Monday (24th November).

Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule says “The pool complex has been given a $395,000 makeover during the winter and this has produced a facility that I am sure the whole community will be proud of. The refurbished pool will be far more swimmer-friendly and the whole complex has a new, more welcoming feel."

Lawrence Yule says “The pool has provided sterling service to the community since it opened in 1967 and is the only 50 metre pool in Hawke’s Bay. Swimmers will immediately notice the new paint scheme and will welcome the upgraded changing facilities. The entrance way has been remodeled to give a more welcoming feel when swimmers enter the complex.”

A new BBQ has been installed which will be available for public use, while shadesails will help shelter users from the blazing sun during the summer months.

Meanwhile, the four swimming pools owned by Hastings District Council have been united under a new Aquatics Hastings banner.

Council operates the Waterworld Pool in Flaxmere along with the Clive, Havelock North Village, and Frimley Pools and has developed a new brand and strategy that incorporates all four facilities.

Mr Yule says “A review of the operation of our aquatic facilities in 2010 identified a number of changes which were deemed necessary to ensure the longevity of the facilities. A new management structure has been implemented which has enabled a more efficient operating model to be developed for the pools.”

“Extending the opening hours at Clive and the outdoor pools, dedicated lane swimming, improved opportunities for family fun at the pools, including inflatable fun during school holidays, and a new Aquafit programme are all part of the new strategy to make the Aquatics Hastings pools more available to the public and gives users a more enjoyable experience. These initiatives have been initiated as a response to feedback from the community.”
