Fatal crash on State Highway One, Raumati - State Highway One, Raumati - Wellington"
Police are investigating a fatal crash on State Highway One, Raumati, that had occurred at about 9.30pm Thursday evening where a male pedestrian was hit by a car.
It appears the male was walking from Paraparaumu to his home in Raumati.
He was struck by a vehicle travelling north on SH1 just past Poplar Ave.
He was taken by helicopter to Wellington hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
The deceased is a local man from Raumati. Initial indications are that the female driver of the vehicle was not at fault.
A diversion was in place for northbound traffic via Poplar Ave, traffic was light and there were no issues or major delays.
