Police seek public's help in solving Kihikihi rape

Waikato Police investigating the theft of a car and sexual assault of a woman in Kihikihi say their investigation is progressing but they would like to hear from anyone who can identify the offenders.

Acting Detective Sergeant Dean Schrader of the Te Awamutu CIB said the 26-year-old female victim was at her Herbert St home about 8pm on Tuesday when four unknown men appeared at her door.

"Four armed men have gained entry into her home and demanded to know the whereabouts of another woman.

Threats were made against the lives of both the victim and her young daughter before a man described as wearing a Mongrel Mob vest has raped the victim in a bedroom.

"Our victim is obviously traumatised by what has occurred and the priority for Police has been getting her the medical attention she needs and Victim Support.

Today we completed our scene examination and have spoken to the victim but what we're really after is any information from the public on who was responsible for the attack."

Mr Schrader said the offender was described as a light skinned male Maori of large build wearing a Waikato Mongrel Mob patched vest, a black t-shirt with red stripes down the sleeves, old ragged dark coloured jeans with a bulldog tattoo behind one ear and on his neck.

"The second offender was a clean shaven Maori male of skinny build and medium height aged 26-27-years old wearing a black beanie and pants with a bright red jersey and a scar above one eye.

"The third offender was described as being of similar description to the second man but unshaven, with a shaved head and wearing dark pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a leather jacket.

The fourth offender was described as being an older Maori male, possibly in his forties with a broad nose, biggish neck, beer belly and grey and black hair".

He was also wearing dark black tattered jeans, a black t-shirt underneath a leather bike jacket and dark brown Doc Martin boots.

"Obviously this type of offending is of a very serious nature and we are appealing for anyone with any information on the identities of the offenders to come forward to Police"
