Date: November 21, 2014

TSB Bank Christmas Series comes to Hastings

TSB Bank has confirmed their support for two very popular Hastings events; ‘Christmas in Cornwall Park’ and the ‘Fiesta of Lights’ at Waikoko Gardens.

TSB Bank Hastings Branch Manager, Jo Robson says “The TSB Bank Christmas Series was created to link these two iconic events under a common name and to give the people of Hawke’s Bay an opportunity to share the festive spirit at two family friendly community events.”

‘It’s a fantastic opportunity for the Bank’s Hastings and Napier teams to give back to our local communities and contribute to the region’s festive spirit,” Jo Robson says.

The ‘Fiesta of Lights’ will illuminate the Waikoko Gardens at the Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds from Saturday 13 December.

Event organiser Te Rangi Huata says “I'm delighted TSB Bank is supporting Fiesta of Lights in Hastings this year. They are the naming sponsors for the ‘Festival of Lights’ in New Plymouth and it's wonderful that they will now be part of the Christmas Series in Hastings."

Te Rangi Huata says “Visitors to Waikoko Gardens will marvel at the fantastic scenes that have been created for the ‘Fiesta of Lights’ this year. There will be a twilight trail of fairylit trees and more than 40 different light animations. The spectacular Unison Christmas Tree will be a special treat with ribbons of light transforming into playful images.”

‘Christmas in Cornwall Park’ will be held on Sunday 14th December and is a celebration of the festive season, with a Family Fun Day from2pm till 6pm, followed by Community Christmas Carols.

Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule says “It is great that TSB Bank has agreed to come on board for these two wonderful events. Christmas in Cornwall Park is one of the oldest Christmas events in New Zealand, with 2014 being the 129th time that carols have been sung in Cornwall Park.”

Lawrence Yule says “Christmas in Cornwall Park is a chance to get together with friends and family and enjoy a wonderful night’s entertainment in one of the most beautiful settings in the district.”

The family fun day will feature live music from 3pm, the Splash Pad will allow kids to cool off, Kiwi Adventure Trust will organise backyard games and sports, and there will be storytelling from Hastings Library. Santa makes an appearance at 5pm while the carol signing will be led by the Deco Bay Napier Port Brass Band from around 7.15pm.

Any number of movie examples come to mind, beginning with Rudolf Valentino’s role (over a century ago) as the romantic Arab hero in The Sheik...
