Christmas in Parnell - Saturday 6 December

Parnell is coming to life on Saturday 6th Dec, from 10am -4pm with two key festive events for the public.

The first is a festive Christmas Fair in the famous boutique-style, cobblestoned sector of the Parnell Village.

This is followed by Parnell’s very own ‘Carols in the Park’ - a vibrant event, to be held in Heard Park amongst the innovative business hub of Parnell.

Parnell Village Christmas Fair - 10am-1pm

This is an opportunity for the public to celebrate the season in the quaint, heritage-rich Parnell Village, at this old-style Christmas Fair.

Following the theme, features of the event include vintage car and motorcycle displays, street entertainment, jazz music and more.

Inspired by a charity close to his heart, fair organizer, Kevin Harvey, has also included a Charity Auction to take place at 12pm, which will raise funds for Mercy Hospice and North Shore Hospice.

Parnell Carols in the Park - 12pm - 4pm

Heard Park will be filled with Christmas activity, the giant Parnell Christmas Tree, Santa Claus and festive cheer. The deck chairs will be out on the grass for families, friends and the like to soak up the atmosphere, sunshine and enjoy the stalls, sausage sizzle, Balloon Twisters and entertainment.

Live performances with caroling, music and dancing will take place continuously throughout the event.

From 12pm - 3pm Santa Claus and his trusty Elf will be sitting on his throne in the park, to welcome the children and enliven the Christmas spirit.

A very special, feature performance from the internationally travelled Aotea Youth Symphony strings sextet will provide a mix of festive pieces as well as their own collection, for an extended set during the afternoon, conducted by Paul Harrop.

Renowned Holy Trinity Cathedral choir are performing traditional carols and Parnell District School’s dance troupe will be along with their routines too.

Choral group, Laudamus, also have their line-up ready to wow the crowds, with carols and Christmas songs to get everyone onto the festive spirit.

Also take time out to enjoy boutique shopping, restaurant and café dining all in the one diverse and beautiful surroundings of Parnell.
