Key decisions from today’s Council meeting

Christchurch City Council met today and made the following key decisions:

‘Champions Mile’ housing proposal

The Council agreed to a “qualified approval in principle” for the “Champions Mile” exemplar housing proposal for land at Riccarton Park Racecourse. The Council invited Ngai Tahu Property Ltd to continue to develop the specifics of the proposal, in order to achieve full “approval in principle” status as an exemplar housing project.

Significance and Engagement Policy

The Council adopted the Significance and Engagement Policy, which applies to the decision-making processes of the Council and of Community Boards under the Local Government Act. The intent of the policy is to provide greater clarity to the community about how and when people can expect to be engaged, as well as to better inform the Council about the extent and type of community engagement required before a particular decision is made.
