Fishy business means family fun at Pukeiti

Fishy business means family fun at Pukeiti

1 December 2014

A ‘bio blitz’ will be the central theme at a family fun day at Pukeiti on Sunday (7 December).

Part of the Explorer Day programme of family-focused events at Pukeiti, it’s an opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about freshwater fish and other stream dwellers, how the health of streams can be assessed, and how and why streams change as they flow from the mountain to the sea.

Participants will get hands-on experience of different techniques to measure stream health, guided by the Taranaki Regional Council educator.

Pack a hat, sunblock, water and good footwear for this event. Bring a picnic lunch or dine at the on-site Founders Café.

Sunday’s Explorer Day runs from 10.30am to 2pm at Pukeiti, 2290 Carrington Road. It is part of a year-round programme of free public events at Pukeiti, Hollard Gardens and Tupare, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.

For more information, see www.pukeiti.org.nz, www.tupare.info and www.hollardgardens.info. Social media users can also follow the three Taranaki Regional Council Gardens on Facebook (TaranakiRegionalGardens) and Twitter (@TaranakiRG).
