Phillip John Smith, the alleged prison absconder who was deported from Brazil to New Zealand on November 28 (Brazil time) will appear in the Auckland District on two charges tomorrow, Tuesday December 9, via audio visual link with Auckland Prison.
Smith is charged with escaping lawful custody as well as false representation in relation to how he obtained his passport.
Superintendent Richard Chambers says the Police investigation into Smith’s activities in relation to his alleged offending is ongoing and it’s possible it will result in further charges being laid.
