Man charged with Ashburton burglary


Canterbury Police have charged a 27 year old man in relation to a burglary at the Ashburton Trading Store which is reported to have taken place at approximately 12.45am on Friday morning last week (12 December 2014).

Police investigations and information provided by the community led to the execution of two search warrants at residential addresses in Ashburton township on Tuesday afternoon at around 4.30 pm (16 December 2014).

A 27 year old Ashburton man who was employed locally has been charged with Burglary and will appear in Christchurch District Court on Wednesday 17 December 2014.

Police recovered some of the property stolen from the Ashburton Trading Store at the properties searched and a number of other items were found by members of the public in an area close to the town centre. Unrecovered property which may have already been sold on includes Norsewear and Swanndri jackets and clothing.

Canterbury Police based in Ashburton Station would like to thank the community for their help in locating the offender and resolving this crime.
