Police investigate homicide after injured man dies - Operation Leo
24 December 2014

Wellington District Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to injuries sustained by 49 year-old Bruce Maurice Coker in Linden, Tawa last Saturday evening.

Mr Coker of Porirua died in Wellington hospital early yesterday morning and a post mortem was completed yesterday evening.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said, "While most peoples thoughts at this time of year are on celebrating Christmas and spending time with loved ones, Bruce's whanau are preparing to bury their much loved family member.

Our thoughts are with Bruce and his whanau at this time, as they begin to gather to farewell him."

"There are people out there who have information that can assist Police and the Bruces' family in establishing what has happened.

These people are encouraged to come forward, and do the right thing by the family and the community."

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in Rossiter Street, Linden, Tawa between 6pm and midnight on 20 December 2014.

Information can be provided to the Operation Leo investigation team on (04) 381 2000 or confidentiality through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
