Child drowns in pool - Manurewa - Counties Manukau

Emergency Services attended the scene of a drowning at about 1pm today in Manurewa, Auckland. A 1 year old drowned in a temporary backyard pool. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the drowning.
At this stage the matter has been referred to the Coroner. Beaches and pools are a big part of the New Zealand lifestyle.
Unfortunately, they can also be potentially dangerous places, particularly where young children are concerned.
Police which to remind parents and caregivers that young children should be directly supervised by an adult when they are around water.
