Collision leaves one dead in the BOP
(Update) Emergency Services are in attendance at a collision
which has left one person dead on State Highway 2,
Whakamarama.
The male driver of a rental vehicle,
travelling in southbound direction towards Tauranga, was
killed after his vehicle crossed the centreline and struck a
northbound vehicle.
The two occupants of the northbound
vehicle have been taken by ambulance to Tauranga hospital,
one with critical injuries. The head-on collision occurred
at about 2:15pm on SH2 near Gill Lane,
Whakamarama.
Diversions are in place around the scene of
the collision, so motorists should expect delays if
travelling in the area. No further details are available.
